The property is the only one in the Bay and the surrounding area is a fully protected nature reserve.
The access to the beach is for you only, and no public access is permitted down the driveway. General public however can access the beach by boat but due to the secluded nature of the property this is a rare occurance.
Here are a few rules to help you enjoy your stay and a few telephone numbers in case you need them!
- Please leave the cottage as you find it!
- This cottage is strictly no smoking. Fire alarms are situated throughout the house.
- No open fires are permitted anywhere including in the gardens, surrounding areas, or on the beach.
- No camping is allowed in any of the grounds at all.
- The grounds are maintained by Jason who may drop in during your stay here to mow the lawns.
- Check in time 2pm and Check out time - 10am. Please can you make sure that you lock the gate when you leave and that the keys are replaced. You will find a padlock on a chain. Please make sure that you lock the gates on departure.
- Please take all rubbish with you as there is no refuse collection. You can dispose of it at the rubbish tip in Picton across from the railway station and well signposted by yellow signs...
- Please report any breakages or any faulty equipment
- Please switch off all electric items on departure but leave the mains electrics on.
- If you have any power related issues the power board is found in the bedroom with the 2 single beds and the basic switchboard is in the wall here. If you lose power in an area of the house check here first and you may simply need to switch one of the fuses that could have shorted if any circuit has been overloaded.
- Please conserve water. The tap water is fine to drink although is comes from the stream above and filtered through the new water system.
- Hot water is supplied by the water tank located outside of the property.
- Television - freeview box connected.
- Please do not put any sanitary material down the toilet. It is a septic system that is a natural soak away.
- There is a Telecom phone line.
- Barbecue - feel free to use. But please clean and return to original condition. you found it in on departure. You will need to bring your own gas bottle.
- In New Zealand dial 111 from your mobile phone in case of any emergency. You will then be directed to either ambulance, police or fire departments. The address here is 1711 Port Underwood Road, Coles Bay, Port Underwood, and Marlborough Sounds.
- Nearest Medical Help - Picton/Blenheim.
- Nearest petrol station and shop - BP Picton.Approx 40 mins by road from Coles Bay.
- Shopping - Supermarket ( New World & Four Square) - Picton
- No pets are allowed
- The Bay is sheltered and safe for swimming or kayaking in.
